PINAKIKILOS ni Senador Nancy Binay ang Department of Tourism (DoT) na gumawa ng aksyon para kontrahin ang inilabas na advisory ng mga bansang United Kingdom at Australia sa mga mamamayan nito na nasa bansa.

Ayon kay Binay, pinuno ng Senate Committee on Tourism,  kailangang kumilos ng DoT tulad ng magpalabas ng update sa Philippine travel guides upang maitama ang negatibong impresyon sa nangyayari sa Mindanao.

“Dapat magdoble-kayod ang DOT sa pag-counter ng negative publicity na resulta ng mga travel advisory,” sabi nito.

Pinakilos din nito ang Philippine National Police (PNP) at Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) na magtulungan upang magpalabas ng accurate reports sa security situation sa sitwasyon na maipapahagi sa mga embahada sa bansa.

“Of course, we have to respect these countries’ prerogatives in issuing advisories out of concern for their citizens. There are times, though, that these advisories are unnecessary and sometimes exaggerated,” dagdag pa ni Binay.

“Kailangan may constant dialogue tayo sa iba’t ibang bansa. If we can, maybe let’s use mediators, their own nationals who are happy and satisfied tourists in our country to help dispel their misconceptions,” aniya pa.
